Earth Camp: Conservation Stewards for a New Generation Program introduces high schoolers to the mission and the value of the National Forests. Students learn about animals and plants of the Sonoran Desert, forest resources and management, partake in meaningful on-the-ground restoration actions and gain new outdoor skills through hiking and camping.
Additionally, students have the opportunity to meet environmental professionals and explore careers in fire science, hydrology, forestry, and environmental education.
During 2020/2021, Earth Campers also spent the year working on a specimen collection that highlights one aspect of the biodiversity of the Sonoran Desert Region. Their work on this particular project is highlighted below.
