We Bee Scientists: Grade 2: Bee Heroes

This one-unit study offers an in-depth look at native bees in the Sonoran Desert and what they need to survive, why they are essential, and how humans can protect them. This free, hands-on, all-inclusive curriculum will have your students developing models, playing games, engaging in higher-level thinking, using critical thinking skills, making connections, constructing explanations and more, all while learning about bees from the Sonoran Desert.

What’s included:

UNIT 1: Students will be able to identify different types of native Sonoran Desert bees, the food and shelter source for each bee, why they are beneficial to both our ecosystem and humans, and how humans can help protect them. Students will complete a Bee Journal showcasing their knowledge and understanding, create a “save the bees” poster, and develop a drawing or a physical model of a bee house.
