We Bee Scientists: Grade 1: Spectacular Saguaros
This set of units offers an in depth look into the structure and function of the parts of a saguaro, its impact on animals and humans, and the vital role it plays as a keystone species of the Sonoran Desert. This free, hands-on, all-inclusive curriculum set will have your students developing models, singing, acting, and learning all about the wonder of the saguaro while meeting rigorous standards.

UNIT 1: Students will be able to identify and describe the different parts of a saguaro that help it survive in the desert. Students will develop models of saguaros to show their understanding.
UNIT 2: Students will recognize that many animals utilize the saguaro as a source of food and as a home. Students will create a class book showcasing the variety of wildlife that interact with the saguaro.
UNIT 3: Students will explore the impact that saguaros have on humans in the desert. Students will investigate methods used by indigenous peoples to harvest and use the saguaro in daily life.
