Ironwood Gallery exhibit and artwork created by Art Institute students - Conservation through Art Education

December 2016

Dear Friends

Each day I have the privilege of driving over Gates Pass to a very special place. A home away from home where exercising my passion for facilitating and encouraging memorable art experiences is appreciated and supported. This home is the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, the most exciting and meaningful living masterpiece I could ever imagine being part of; a force for positive change and a magical place of learning. For the past four years it has been my honor to lead one of the most innovative programs within the Desert Museum, the Art Institute, originally envisioned by the Museum’s first Executive Director, William Carr. Thanks to an incredible legacy of innovation in interpreting the Sonoran Desert, commitment to conservation and education, my life and that of millions of others have been transformed.

Yes! I want to support the Desert Museum's 2016 Annual Fund.

Just as a memorable piece of art includes different components, the Art Institute is one part of many elements of the Museum that work together ‘to inspire people to live in harmony with the natural world by fostering love, appreciation and understanding of the Sonoran Desert.” During my tenure the art program has grown over 25% annually, providing long time members and supporters another lens through which to see and experience the Sonoran Desert, while also introducing the Museum and the Sonoran Desert region to visitors and students from around the world.

The 98 acres of the Museum, with its diverse living collections, is a classroom that brings people closer to natural history and inspires conservationists through meaningful art experiences. Nowhere else will you find a focused living museum that incorporates land, plants, animals, history, culture, and environmental awareness in the way we do at the Desert Museum.

Please know that you are the most important element towards continuing our legacy of conservation and education.

Tangible and ongoing support for bringing people closer to our environment in life-changing ways is how the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum earned and maintains international fame. I invite you to join me in helping all of us at the Desert Museum touch even more people. Your support is necessary for the continued growth of this one-of-a-kind museum that reaches people of all ages, from all over the world, through our unique way of delivering natural history discovery.

"I'd like to see a natural history art museum as part of the museum's complex"

The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is a living, breathing, growing organization made up of tireless hearts and natural world ambassadors who work together to spread love and knowledge about our Sonoran Desert region. Our creative teams, talent. and educational outreach would not be possible without you being part of this very special community.

Thank you for your generosity, and for supporting your Desert Museum.

My very best,
