Amanda's Story

Earth Camp Commitment

Hello, my name is Amanda. Earth Camp has been a really great experience for me. My Earth Camp commitment is to save water. When I learned about how the amount of water on Earth is quickly decreasing, I wanted to do something that would make a difference. It may be a small difference at first, but it's a great start to make big differences for the future.

The experience that motivated me to save more water was going to Aqua Caliente and learning how the amount of water in the lake was decreasing rapidly because of evaporation and lack of rainwater. I thought that was a big deal. Another activity that inspired me to want to save water, is going to Brad Lancaster's house. There, his whole house was based on using the least amount of resources. I was really inspired by how he reused water by running it through a system that filtered it. I thought this was really awesome.

By saving water, there will be a little more water in the world for animals and other important human use. Also, my actions could help inspire others to try to save water.

The object that I will use to follow through with my commitment is my Earth Camp water bottle. My water bottle will remind me of how important water is as well as all the fun and learning I had at Earth Camp.
