A wash flows past the north edge of the Orocopia Mountains north of the Salton Sea. Interstate highway 10 can be seen on the left of the image. The larger dark spots are trees, which can be seen to occur only along larger drainage courses. The smaller spots are shrubs, mostly creosote bush. The next three images show progressively closer views of desert washes.
