Responsible for supervising, assigning, and reviewing the activities of staff involved in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and membership fulfillment. Performs professional accounting work in accordance with prescribed accounting system and generally accepted principles of accounting. Directly supervises four employees in the Accounting and Membership departments in accordance with the ASDM's policies and applicable laws. Acts as backup for these employees and performs all accounting and membership functions (cash handling, A/P, A/R, payroll and GL) during absence periods or as needed. Other duties may be assigned. Position may be required to work greater than 40 hours per week and some holidays and weekends. Must have a Bachelor's degree in accounting from a four year college or university and three to five years of closely related experience, including supervision, in all aspects of accounting
Secures the Museum's grounds and facilities by conducting patrols and testing alarms; maintaining surveillance, maintaining records of incidents on and adjacent to Museum property, and responding to emergencies. Provides assistance to Museum visitors & staff. Must be able to understand and follow standard operating procedures. Responds to all first aid incidents. Monitors various Museum operating systems. Must be at least 21 years of age with high school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of one year of formal law enforcement, military service, or security experience is highly desirable. Knowledge of fire inspection procedures desirable. Certification in first aid and CPR required. Arizona Concealed Weapons Permit required. Must be able to make independent and good judgement decisions and able to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance. Work is performed inside and outside the property with exposure to inclement weather and unpredictable situations. Shift work/rotating shift work required.
This position may be filled by either:
One full-time/regular status (benefit eligible) employee working half time utilizing Operating Funds and half time on Grant Funds.

One half-time/regular status (benefit eligible) employee utilizing Operating Funds AND One half-time contract status (non-benefit eligible) employee on Grant Funds.
Primary responsibilities include planning course content, teaching classes, presenting lectures, conducting workshops, and participating in other activities to further the educational program of the Museum. Candidates should have a B.S. in biological sciences, environmental education or equivalent, interest or experience in using animals in the classroom, and extensive training/background in natural sciences. Teaching certificate and bilingual (English/Spanish) skills highly desirable.
The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum has openings for a variety of temporary, call-in positions. Applicants must be personable, responsible and dependable and must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, with the possibility of last-minute calls to work. These are temporary positions and do not include any benefits or a guaranteed number of hours/weeks of work.
Temporary call-in Security Officers are needed for weekends, all shifts. Must have high school diploma or equivalent. 21 years or older required. Minimum 1 year law enforcement or security experience required. Ability to obtain first aid and CPR certification and Arizona Concealed Weapons Permit required.
Greet, admit and direct visitors; sell admission tickets utilizing computer; operate pager and telephone systems handling routine and emergency calls. One year computer experience, cash-handling, and customer service work required. Must have pleasant personality; clear and excellent communication skills; ability to remain calm under stress, and work at fast pace. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, with the possibility of last-minute calls to work, as needed.
