Research and Conservation in Southern Sonora, Mexico

Pisonia capitata (*****)

Left and above: An isolated colony of Pisonia capitata occurs on Ragged Top mountain, Ironwood Forest National Monument, AZ. This plant is 400 miles north of the nearest known population in Sonora. The seed was probably carried here by a migratory bird. It grows in a deep, shady cleft in the rock face. Photos: Mark Dimmitt
