SPARKS

Kids enjoying science activities

Attention Parents and Grandparents! Would you like to participate in a free "hands-on" science workshop, receive a stipend for your time, obtain privileged "behind-the-scenes" access to local parks and museums, AND learn a great way to connect with your children while learning some fun "everyday" science? Then join SPARKS Across America! Community partners include Tucson Children's Museum, Reid Park Zoo and the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. These three institutions are presenting a program that brings science organizations and parents of children in grades K-6 together in order to promote parental involvement in their children's science education. Parents must attend all three September workshops to prepare for organizing and staffing an activity fair. Parents will receive an honorarium upon completing workshops. Training sites will provide all materials required, training tools, tours of participating organizations and food.

Fall 2009 PARENT FAIR

Saturday September 26 2009 FAIR @ Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum

Academic achievement in science, math, technology or engineering can open doors for our kids. Research shows that parents who are involved in their children's education produce more academically successful children (Henderson & Mopp 2002). Be involved!
