introduced species -
Organisms that have been brought into an area in which they do not naturally occur. Introduced species can compete with and cause problems for native species. Introduced species are also called exotic, non-native and alien species. Invasive species - An aggressive alien species that displaces other species; most commonly a naturalized species occupying a disturbed habitat, although the most destructive invasives also displace natives in intact communities. |
